Fender '57 Stratocaster 8 Hole Pickguard - White Pearl

Guitar Replacement Pickguard. Made by Fender.

One of the really nice things about Fender instruments is that you can change the look of your instrument with relative ease.

One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is to replace the pickguard! Fender offers a variety of pickguards with different pickup configurations and materials to help you add a personal touch to your favorite Fender instrument.

  • '50s Stratocaster (Mexico)

The Custom Shop is a wonder to behold. Imagine, getting to work on Eric Clapton's guitar and amps? Being the ONE to supervise the final model, and getting to strip off the paint for Jeff Beck or Andy Summers? The Custom Shop is a wonder all right, but only for those who can afford it. Until at least very recently, that is.

The Custom Shop has been around awhile

For most, it seems we were late to catch on to how awesome the Fender Custom Stratocasters and Telecasters really are.

Now, the Custom Shop has started making great reissues and Masterbuilt guitars available to everyone, not just superstars. In fact, they figured that what the stars ordered, well, it was just as good for everyone else, so why not run off a whole line of Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler guitars? What about a limited line of Jeff Beck signature telecasters? Sounds good to me!

There are different versions of Custom Shop guitars

You can order your own or get an Artist Series, which is the lowest model they have. I'm not even really sure Custom Shop works with these, since they are factory made.

But the king of the crop is the Custom Shop, the Tribute series, Clapton's '57 Blackie' Stratocaster, Andy Summer's limited run of Telecasters, and SRV's 'Lenny'. This is as close as you are probably going to get to the real thing. Enjoy it! Also, note, that the Signature series might not be exactly what your favorite artist plays on stage- but it's probably pretty close.

There are a number of ways to get your hands on Custom Shop models.

But I would say this to you: skip the big-box dealers. You might get lucky and find a few CS models at Guitar Center or another store, but Ebay is your best bet for quality of the Custom Shop models and the range of different Fender Custom Shop Strats and Teles that they have. Stay tuned for my article on Custom Shop Fender Relic and Heavy Relic guitars.

Do you know how much money Guitar Center MAKES off of people like you?

Did you know they use "levels" to match up the kind of gear they want you to buy with the placement of the products in the store? It's SICK! You won't find a FCS or Relic at really any GC or Sam Ash anywhere- and if you do, there is only one of them. They don't care about you. For someone who cares (that's me) I mean, cares about you (cry on my couch) you need to drop in to Fender Guitar Vault to see dozens of FCS as well as the ULTRA Rare Relic series. I mean, why would I lie about Fender selection? :)
